D. Clay McCollor – Of Counsel
Mr. McCollor is a graduate of Texas A&M University. He served four years on active duty in the US Army as a Field Artillery officer, receiving the rank of Captain, and was stationed both in the U.S. and the Middle East. Post-military, Mr. McCollor attended South Texas College of Law and was chosen as one of the schools first joint-degree students, earning an MBA from Texas A&M University through a dual enrollment program. After law school, Mr. McCollor advised several small businesses on insurance and securities-related matters. For several years, Mr. McCollor served as General Counsel of a boutique investment bank in Houston and focused on corporate counseling, transactional matters, securities issues, and litigation management, operating in the commercial real estate, oil and gas, and emerging technology industries. In 2008, Mr. McCollor took his experience working with start-up and growth stage companies and started the McCollor Law Firm, catering to the transactional and legal counseling needs of these companies.
Personally, Mr. McCollor and his family have called The Woodlands home for several years. He is the proud father of three children and remains an active member in The Woodlands community. In his free time, Mr. McCollor focuses on his involvement in The Rotary Club of The Woodlands, Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, spending time with his family, and improving his golf game.
Mr. McCollor’s accomplishments include: structuring / formation of several private offerings, including $3 million for Houston-based golf facility; $3 million stock sale for international tilapia company; structuring of insurance-based sales and marketing effort involving captured agent offices in 18 states; organizing real estate development, brokerage, and investment-related companies; and organizing several internet-based social networking and web design and marketing companies. Additionally, Mr. McCollor has counseled companies through bankruptcy’s and dissolutions, issues regarding structure of private equity funds and other venture-based companies, counseled client-companies through employee hiring and termination issues, use of employee handbooks, as well as, structured stock and asset acquisitions and divestitures.
